Mango is an SMS-based social network that lets you stay hyper-connected to all your friends on-the-go. It has never been easier to keep everyone up-to-date, chat with your friends, share news, get help or meet new people... all through your mobile phone!
Mango is absolutely free! You only have to pay the cost of 1 SMS as per your mobile tariff and we send it to all your friends for FREE!
All your information, including your phone number is completely confidential. Only the people who you accept as friends on Mango will be able to see your information and receive your Mango updates.
We are in private beta and you need to be invited by another Mango user to start using the service or you can fill the form on our home page to get an invite. The invitation will have details of how to register on Mango.
You'll need to add your friends to your network. Once you've created your friends network, you can start sending in Mango updates, which we'll send to all your friends. You can also start by joining groups, which are explained below. Visit our help page to find out how to add friends to your network.
Updates are what you send to your friends to keep them up-to-date or chat with them. For example, "I'm getting bored.. anyone up for coffee?", "it's snowing in Islamabad!", "what an amazing Strings concert!!" or anything you can think of! To send an update, just write it in an SMS and send it to any Mango number. It will automatically go to all the friends in your Mango network.
Your update messages go only to your friends. If you send messages to a group, it will go to all the members of that group.
Just add them using the ADD command. For example, send "add 03219876543 03001234567" to Mango. Your friends will receive invitations to join the service.
Your username is your identity on Mango. Once you are registered, this username cannot be changed.
Groups are where you can talk to many people sharing common interests, for example cricket, euro2008, movies, tech are all examples of groups. Once you join a group, you will receive all the messages sent to that group and can also send messages to the group. For commands on how to use groups, go to our help page.
You can manage your friend circles through private groups. For example, you can have one group for your college friends and another for your school friends, and you can talk to each group separately. Private groups work the same way as groups, except that the group owner needs to approve each join request. To find out how to use private groups, go to our help page.
Friend circles has your close group of friends with whom you might want to share more personal information like "Who is up for a movie tonight?" or "Hey guys how's the preparation for tomorrow's exam?" whereas groups can be used for anything like discussing cricket, talking about the latest movies, sharing jokes or anything else you can imagine!
Sure! Just send them invites using the invite command (view help). For example, use "invite mygroup 03219876543"
To support sending so many messages at once, we have to use multiple phone numbers. We recommend you save all these numbers under one contact in your phone for ease of use. You can send your Mango messages to any of these numbers.
Simple, just send DND and we will stop sending you messages till you send DND OFF or send a message to Mango.
Yes. Just use the MUTE command. For example, by sending mute alikhan you will stop getting messages from alikhan until you unmute him. More information on the mute command on our help page.
